I’m happy to report that I survived my hour, clocking up a total of 17km over the three activities.
Between the 15 of us we completed 2 Iron Man Challenges and raised a whooping £1085 for Sports Relief!
Today is Sports Relief Day.
Much like Comic Relief and Children in Need before it, it’s a day when we band together and do something funny/sporty/competitive/or just plain nutty all in the name of Charity.
This year, I’m taking part in an Iron Man challenge.. kind of. While it’s not the fun superhero event I imagined it would be, myself and 15 of my work chums will be sweating it out to raise money.
The blurb is thus..
“An Iron Man triathlon is tough and a big ask for one person –a 3.8k swim, 180k bike ride and 40k run. But as a team, it’s amazing what we can do when we work together.
For Sport Relief 2016, we’re organising a team challenge based around beating an Iron Man distance by working together. How far do you think you could go in an hour if you did 5 minutes rowing (we don’t have access to a pool), 40 minutes cycling and 15 minutes running or any combination of the 3?”
And so it is that 9am will see me don a very yellow vest (seriously, check my instagram for proof) and step in to the unchartered territory that is “Easy Gym”.
