Cemetery Walks

Hey there,

A bout of cabin fever the weekend before last saw me drag my behind out for a walk around Roath lake and through Cathays Cemetery. If you live in Cardiff or know the area at all, you’ll know that this place is HUGE. In fact, at 110 acres it’s the third largest cemetery in the UK! If you’re interested, you can find out more about the cemetery here.

There’s always been something appealing to me about taking walks through huge cemeteries. They’re so quiet and peaceful. Here’s some of the photos I took while I was out and about. Warning: There’s quite a few pictures..

I love that it’s written in Welsh. Surprisingly few I saw were.

This person must have had an amazing sense of humour.

The main entrance.

Some parts were very, very crowded.

I love how the white gravestone stands out so much. Almost as if it’s been superimposed.

And there’s no way I couldn’t include this guy.

Oooh, I do like a nice wander around the cemetery. They are full of history and everything is so so old. That little lonely wooden cross, looks so old and a little sad…

You got some really great light in these photos too! I think they are some of your best 🙂
